Author's note: I try to keep this as up-to-date as I can, but if any estate agent thinks they're unfairly represented, let me know.
The Estate Agents
Note: the list is presented in alphabetical order, but some of the best sites turn out to be right down the bottom, and you might find yourself at least as well served if you start there!
Abbotts Countrywide is one of those chains which makes you fight your way through to find its Cambridge properties, but I've done the hard work and I can take you straight to the Cambridge stuff. The search engine/filter system seemed to take forever when I last tried it.
Bidwells has a new site with the search box on the front page, but you'll have to type in "Cambridge" yourself, I can't find a shortcut.
Bradshaw's is a well-designed, interesting site from a Cambridge-only estate agent and has a particularly good map facility showing the properties for sale. Well done.
Bush and Co have a very simple site which ticks all the boxes - I can take you straight to the search page, and from there things are pretty straightforward. I do love sites which say "add to basket" next to each property. It'd need to be a big basket.
Carter Jonas have changed their site to let me take you to the Cambridge page, which is great. They have a map facility, but it didn't work for me.
Cheffins has a dedicated estate agency site, and I can get you to the "property search", but you'll have to type in 'Cambridge' yourself.
Connell is a national estate agency which lets me get you some way into the Cambridge search, and the rest is up to you.
FPDSavills allows me to get you to the Cambridge listings and is nicely laid out, with plenty to offer.
Haart has a fairly freeform search on the front page where you have to type in "Cambridge" yourself. Note it's the box above the map you want though, not the "find a local branch" box. Unless you do want details of the branches, that is.
Hockeys is a long-established local estate agency and has a nice clear site with the search box on the home page. My link takes you to the central Cambridge listings.
Morris Armitage also covers a fair part of East Anglia but this link should take you to the Cambridge area listings.
Pocock & Shaw allows you to select the area you want by ticking a box, which is easier than having to type in 'Cambridge', or my link takes you straight to the Cambridge city listings.
Radcliffe & Rust is a relatively new agency based in Cambridge and has a nice clean design which seems straightforward to use.
Redmayne, Arnold and Harris is a Cambridge-only estate agency and you can select the area with a dropdown selector from the link here.
Rightmove is a major national web-based property finding system which is fairly straightforward to use and seems to host the properties from many estate agencies. It's therefore well worth a look, and after a bit of experimenting, I think I can now get you straight in to the Cambridge properties.
Russells lets us straight into their residential sales page where you can refine your search or just click "search" to take you to all listings.
Saint Andrews Bureau seems to have taken over from the relatively short-lived Chapman Lorimer Oakes and I can take you to the Cambridge listings, although in no greater detail than a 10-mile radius. There's a map view too.
TuckerGardner has a brilliant map which you can actually use to see property particulars. Just about my favourite way of looking around for properties. Good work, chaps. There, it was worth getting this far down the list, wasn't it?
Tylers Estate Agents is another local firm with mainly Cambridge listings, and once again, a clickable map. We're on a roll here.
And last, but very much not least, Vincent Shaw Estate Agents makes it three-in-a-row for local estate agencies with clickable maps, so well done again.
If you're on Digg, del.icio.us, StumbleUpon, etc., and liked this page, please do the relevant clicks!
