I suppose when A Song For Europe was written it might indeed have been a rather kitsch Eurovision Song Contest entry. But in terms of irony, Eurovision has long since disappeared up its ironic backside.
I suppose the message we should all take away with us from Even Men With Steel Hearts (Love To See A Dog On The Pitch) is that despite all the terrible things which go on in this fast moving, ever changing world in which we find ourselves, the indomitable spirit of human nature will always shine through. Except it won’t. Probably.
