Shit Arm, Bad Tattoo has probably been sent in to me (thanks, by the way!) by more people than any other, so it’s about time I posted it up. Great song, nothing to do with The Libertines, ‘cos Nigel said so (yeah, right). Another good modified football chant features. Thanks to Paul, Tony, Peter, EskimoEric etc…

Haven’t listened to this for a while but I always thought it was “hospital parking scheme”
Also thought it was “I went in the High Street”
Could well be wrong on both counts though

It is “hospital parking scheme”, bad editing on my part. I also thought it was “I went in the High Street”, until someone suggested “advent”, which seems more likely, and better.

Another vote for “Advent” – because you only busk when it’s Christmas, innit?

I think it could be ‘I vent in the high street’ as in letting off steam. Maybe?!

Nah, it’s advent. I THINK it refers to the cover of the NME xmas edition 2003 (??) where said band were busking

after the “busk when it’s christmas” line, there’s a background “come on!” before the next line

I’m pretty sure it’s “Or get a Celtic band”, not “Authentic Celtic band”.

Sorry, I always thought it was “Authentic Celtic band”. A dismissive comment on what was hugely popular in the late 90s, early 00s – that people would always say it’s an ‘authentic Celtic band’ like those who say ‘authentic Chinese symbols which mean X, Y and Z’ but in reality, mean nothing at best and something insulting at worst.

Whenever I hear “authentic celtic band” I always think of Clanad / Enya

Another vote for ‘authentic celtic band’ and ‘advent’.
and that ‘come on’ is one of my favourite HMHB moments.

And respond she did. Check it out. @themaryhopkin

Bravo Dave. But I must say her response does not appear to reflect her state of despair.

I notice she’s giving a cheeky middle finger to the world in her profile pic! Perhaps the despair has in fact driven Mary to a state of punk nihilism.

Oh say I’m not the only one to listen with trepidation to last week’s Radio Four programme about The Book of Revelation, in which as you might have expected Juliet Gardiner’s expert academics managed a 100% record with ‘Book of Revelation’ (12 out of 12 shots on target there in fact) but in which the presenter herself managed just 5 ‘Book of Revelation’ mentions and 3 ‘Book of Revelations’. Alas there was no multi-lingual pundit on hand on the panel to tell us that when you’re translating from Greek it doesn’t really matter anyway.
Just a few hours left on the i-player by the way, which is about par for the course for me. And you didn’t miss much anyway to be fair.

Up to a point, Lord Exxo. The Book wasn’t given a title by my namesake, and takes the name Revelation from its first word in Koine Greek, αποκάλυψη. Revelations would be αποκαλύψεις.
(Good series, that.)

The Commentators – N-N-Nineteen not out (second innings). 1985. “And David Gower bringing on The Spinners now, followed by The New Seekers, and hoping(?) to see Mary Hopkins in the background.”
She must despair.

Capital ‘C’ in “Celtic” imo.

I agree. All the references in Chambers (cross, Sea, Fringe) are to Celtic, none to celtic.Celts (sometimes Kelts) are always capitalised.
