In an issue of local (Merseyside) fanzine 'Breakout' - or, possibly, 'Merseysound' - circa 1981/2, 'Pieces of Glass' described themselves as being, ahem, "melodic pop with a dance beat". I think I am right in recalling that I laughed. Coincidentally, it was in the very same mag that Half Man Half Biscuit (then, presumably, just a concept) received their first press, with an alleged demo being a work-in-progress and containing 'Supercalafragalistic Borussia Moenchengladbach' and 'Bet Lynch is Big Titty'. They were friends with Orchestral Manouvres in the Dark, as I recall, and featured a lead singer who ranted from the Book of Revelation (yes) whilst an unlistenable guitar racket played around him.
